AC Schnitzer

AC Schnitzer
In comparison with the 507 HP base model, AC Schnitzer extracts a good ten percent more power from the free-revving ten-cylinder M-engine. While the luggage space can be expanded by simply folding down the seats, this is far more complicated for engine power. As well as a custom engine control module, AC Schnitzer fits a special exhaust manifold, sports catalysts and a twin rear silencer with increased gas flow to keep the exhaust back pressure as low as possible.
To avoid reining in this highly trained endurance athlete unnecessarily, AC Schnitzer has also removed the V-max limit so the ACS5 Sport Touring is only slowed by driving resistance at around 320 km/h. Or by the driver's right foot, which via the AC Schnitzer alloy pedals gains access not only to a powerful engine but also to the superb braking system. In contrast to the standard vehicle, which is slowed by a two-pot brake, the front wheels are fitted with an 8-pot high performance system.
The ACS5 Sport however is more than a "muscle car" with tremendous acceleration capacity. With the AC Schnitzer suspension components, it develops the dynamism and agility of an Olympic hurdler. The package was set up personally by racing driver and technical director Manfred Wollgarten on the Nurburgring. The kit includes sports performance springs, which lower the centre of gravity of the vehicle further and reduce body roll thanks to the harder set-up, and a special aluminium strut brace for the front axle.
Power is sexy, but since extra power can be felt but not seen, AC Schnitzer has designed a comprehensive aerodynamic package. But this is more than mere decoration. The AC Schnitzer carbon front spoiler elements with their optional chromed aluminium webs and chromed front grille, are not only reminiscent of classic super sports cars but provide any quantity of cooling air for the greedy power plant. All in all, the front of the ACS5 Sport looks far more dynamic.
Form follows function: This principle has been systematically applied by the engineers and designers at the rear too. Form-perfectly integrated into the rear skirt, a carbon diffuser together with a roof lip spoiler provides additional downforce. Integrated flush into the rear design, the AC Schnitzer exhaust tailpipes in "Sports Trim“ design are particularly aesthetically pleasing.
The beauty of alloy wheels also lies in the eye of the beholder. Everyone is impressed with the totally new Racing Type VI forged wheel in 20". It combines the classic Y-spoke design with five striking frame spokes. With their bright-turned finish, the latter offer a striking contrast to the anthracite wheel bed. The Bicolor finish gives numerous interesting light effects, especially "on the move“.
Further highlights certainly include the forged Type V wheel in 20". Its strikingly curved, interrupted spokes, not only look irresistible but thanks to the lightweight construction, the weight of the unsprung mass is kept low. No less attractive are the racing rims Type IV in silver – or with trendy black finish as "Magic Black“. The range in this case is from 20" to 21".
Occupants of the ACS5 Sport Touring however also enjoy more attention in Aachen. On request a carbon interior is available in sports titanium finish "Exclusive“, or a 3-spoke airbag sports steering wheel. The matching i-Drive controller in wheel design and AC Schnitzer foot mats complete the harmonious concept. So the only sports equipment the driver need be concerned with, goes in the boot

2008 AC Schnitzer ACS3 Sport Car

The vehicle loses nothing of its qualities as a daily driver. Instead, magics even more M-otion into everyday life, for example when the Aachen exhaust system plays its bewitching baritone in a road tunnel.

The left/right system with two tailpipes per side, linked into a horizontal figure of eight, is however a visual work of art. In a play on the mathematical symbol for "infinity", at the same time it symbolises the powerful reserves of the vehicle which reaches 100 km/h from a standing start in an effortless 4.8 seconds. No less carefully arranged are the aerodynamic attachments, which for AC Schnitzer are always more than mere visual decoration.

At the rear, a diffuser of visible carbon presses the car down onto the tarmac as if there were magnets below the road surface. The front spoiler is also made from this high quality material, and is supported against the front skirt with alloy struts as in motorsport. Further downforce is provided by a subtle rear roof spoiler and rear wing which also give the body exciting new contours. Side skirt extensions, in particular when combined with the white paint of the photo model, give the profile an aura of stature and dynamism.

Finally the AC Schnitzer racing rims Type VI embody pure culture, on the ACS3 Sport in sizes 9.0J x 20" on the front and 10.5J x 20" on the rear. The combination of Y-spokes and contrasting five fork spokes superimposed in two planes, produces a design that is as exciting as it is elegant.

BMW X6M Receives the AC Schnitzer Treatment

Well-known BMW tuning house AC Schnitzer has set its eyes on the M version of the X6 sport crossover. The company said it is still working on a performance upgrade for the X6M's twin-turbocharged V8 engine that churns out 555HP in standard form, but buyers can choose from a variety of options that revamp the crossover's look.

The aero bodywork includes a front spoiler, roof spoiler, bonnet air-vents, rear wing, rear diffuser and design elements for the front skirt and chromed front grille. There's also a new carbon piece for the bonnet with a Plexiglas window through which the engine is visible.

AC Schnitzer offers a wheel arch extension kit that adds 40 mm on each side as well as numerous alloy wheel designs available in sizes 20-, 22- and 23-inches. The company also offers a new sport exhaust system with chromed tail-pipes.

BMW 1-Series Coupe AC-Schnitzer Police Car Unveiled at Essen Motor Show

Since 2005, the Association of German Car Tuners (VDAT) in cooperation with the German Police and the country's Federal Ministry for Transport have created the "Tune It! Safe" program to encourage drivers to adopt safe and legal tuning practices. As part of the promotion, the past four years a vehicle is converted into a police car and is exhibited at the annual Essen Motor Show in Germany (Nov. 28 - Dec. 06). For this year's show, VDAT chose a BMW 123d Coupe that has been extensively modified by AC Schnitzer.

The BMW tuning specialist bumped the twin-turbocharged 2.0-liter turbo diesel engine's output to 241HP and 480Nm (354 lb-ft) of torque. With power being sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission, the AC Schnitzer-prepped 123d Coupe accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (62mph) in 6.7 seconds.

Other hardware modifications include a sport suspension that drops the ride height by 30mm, new alloy wheels wrapped in Hankook tires and a sport exhaust system.

On the outside, the 123d gets the full police treatment with original stickers and Hella flashing lights while AC Schnitzer also added an aero kit that comprises of a two-piece front spoiler, rear skirt insert, rear wing and rear roof spoiler.

The coupe's interior has been upgraded with leather bucket seats, genuine carbon fibre trim on the dashboard, centre console, door handles and steering wheel, complemented by the aluminium pedals and foot rests.
