The Ford Edge is a leader for safety and is one of the top selling Ford models on the market at the moment. Edge sales are up 25 percent for 2011 and the Edge is expected to be a segment leader in sales and safety. Other safe vehicles can be purchased from a Honda Dealer Maryland such as the Honda Accord or the Honda Crosstour. The Edge was the segment leader for sales in March with 18 percent of crossover sales and continues Ford's tradition of taking leading market shares. Other leading crossover models can be purchased from a Nissan Dealership AZ. The Ford Edge features the latest in fuel efficient technology and other features that make it stand out from competing crossovers like those sold at Nissan Orange County.

Ford Edge Cars

Ford showed off a working prototype of the plug-in hybrid vehicle that was announced in January. The Ford Edge with HySeries drive was demonstrated to President Bush using a fuel cell to aid the lithium ion batteries, but can also be powered by a diesel or gasoline generator.

Ford says the vehicle can get up to 80 miles per gallon equivalent for people who drive less than 50 miles per day, or 41 miles per gallon for longer trips. Wow, 41 mpg, that’s almost as good as production hybrids for sale today! But seriously, the flexible drive train could be an impactful innovation in the years to come, so we should cut Ford some slack since they haven’t been working on this technology for all that long.

In its press release, Ford let the air out of the hype by speaking the truth about the state of fuel cell technology. "Fuel cell vehicles remain expensive, costing millions of dollars each…. Much work also needs to be done to make fuel cells more durable and to create a hydrogen infrastructure."

Yup, and that’s why plug-in hybrids that use diesel or gas engines should be the focus today.
