Mazda 6

The Mazda6 (the Mazda Atenza in Japan) is a mid-size car produced by the Japanese car manufacturer Mazda since 2002. The Mazda6 has sold over one million units worldwide since its introduction, hitting that sales milestone faster than all previous Mazdas.
The Mazda6 was the first example of the company's new Stylish, Insightful, and Spirited design philosophy followed by the Mazda2 in December 2002, RX-8 in August 2003, Mazda3 in January 2004, Mazda5 in the summer of 2005, MX-5 in October 2005, and Mazda CX-7 in November 2006. The Mazda6 is the successor of Mazda 626, also known as Mazda Capella and Mazda Cronos. The 2002 Mazda6 is essentially the 4th generation Mazda 626 as the Mazda6 continues on the G-platform, progressing from the GF-platform 626/Capella to the GG-platform Mazda6.
The Mazda6 is currently raced in the SCCA Pro Racing World Challenge GTS class. Mazda finished first in the manufacturer's championship standings.Mazda6 drivers also finished first and second in the Touring Car driver points.

The Mazda3 (known as the Mazda Axela in Japan) is a compact car manufactured in Japan by the Mazda Motor Corporation. It was introduced for the 2004 model year, replacing the Mazda Familia (323 or Protegé in export markets). A more performance-oriented version of the Mazda3 is marketed as Mazdaspeed3 in North America and Mazda3 MPS in Europe.A second generation Mazda3 for the 2010 model year was unveiled in late 2008, with the sedan premiering at the Los Angeles Auto Show and the hatchback at the Bologna Auto Show.

The Mazda3 has been generally well-received by the automotive press for its performance, handling, styling and interior, with some describing it as feeling like a more expensive sport sedan despite its value-oriented price. Some criticisms have included fuel economy and crash test results (only receiving four out of a maximum five stars from the EURO NCAP Safety Testing Programme) the latter of which was rectified by making six airbags standard. In 2006 the Mazda3 was the second best-selling car in Canada and the best selling car in Israel during 2005-2007

Official performance figures for the European Mazda3 1.4 S, the lowest-powered model, are 0–100 km/h in 14.3 seconds, with a maximum speed of 170 km/h (106 mph). Wheels magazine reported an 8.7 second 0–100 km/h time for the Australian 2.0 model in its May 2004 issue.
The 1.6 CiTD 80 kW diesel (as sold in Europe) with a five-speed manual does 100 km/h in 11.6 seconds and has top of 182 km/h (113 mph) according to the official Mazda specifications.
In its test results for the 2004 Mazda3 5-door with the 2.3 litre engine, Car and Driver magazine reported a 0-60 mph (0–97 km/h) acceleration time of 7.4 seconds and a governor-limited top speed of 190 km/h (118 mph).
The fuel consumption of these models average in the 10 L/100 km (24 mpg-US; 28 mpg-imp), with the 2 litre 2008 Mazda3 automatic-transmission model scoring a 10 L/100 km (24 mpg-US; 28 mpg-imp)/7.6 L/100 km (31 mpg-US; 37 mpg-imp) city/highway United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rating.

The Axela is based on the Ford global C1 platform, shared with the latest European Ford Focus and Volvo S40. Based on the styling of the MX-Sportif concept car, the Axela is available in two body styles, a four-door sedan, marketed as "coupé style" in Europe, and a five-door hatchback, branded the Sport version in Canada, Japan, and the United States. The lead stylist for this model generation was Moray Callum.
Front suspension is by MacPherson struts, with coil springs and an anti-roll bar. Rear suspension is a Ford-Designed "E-link" multi-link suspension, with four locating links per wheel and an anti-roll bar, suspended on coil springs that are mounted inboard of the shock absorbers to reduce suspension intrusion into the cargo area. Disc brakes are standard at all four wheels, with 300 mm (11.8 in) discs front and 279 mm (11 in) discs rear; ABS and electronic brake force distribution are available or standard, depending on the model. Wheel and tire sizes vary with model, from 15" on base models to optional 17" wheels on upper-level models.
When first introduced, United States-market Mazda3 models were available in only two trim levels, i and s, with the 2.0 L and 2.3 L engines, respectively. Since then Mazda has introduced additional models under the Touring and Grand Touring labels. British Mazda3's are offered in S, TS, TS2, Sport, and a top end 2.3ltr turbocharged Mazda3 MPS (Mazda Performance Series) models. Since April 2008, when there was a mainly cosmetic facelift of the Mazda3, there have been some changes to the trim designations for UK cars, with the models now being the entry level S, then Takara (which replaces TS & TS2), the Tamara Special Edition and the Sport and MPS as before.
All 3 models use the inline-4 Mazda MZR engine, with various types, displacements and outputs including the MZ-CD turbodiesel, depending on model and market. Transmissions are a five-speed manual transmission and a four-speed automatic transmission; since the 2006 model year, a five-speed automatic is optional on models with the 2.3 L engine. This transmission has now been made standard on the 2.0 L engine in Japan (FWD models only), as part of a minor facelift in early 2008 which includes different front/rear bumper designs, new wheel designs and body colors, stiffened chassis, and better interior materials. The MPS / Mazdaspeed version is only available with a six-speed manual.

2011 Mazda 2 Review

The introduction of two new Mazda2 1.6D Sport models this spring has doubled the line-up of diesel-powered cars in this popular range that has attracted more than 3,500 buyers so far this year. Mazda2 customers now have a choice of two diesel powertrains (1.4 68ps and 1.6 90ps), and two generous equipment levels (TS2 and Sport) - with three-door and five-door hatchback body styles.
With a CO2 rating of only 112g/km - qualifying for Band C and an annual road fund licence of just £35 - the new Mazda2 1.6D Sport delivers an unrivalled, class-best blend of performance and fuel economy. It accelerates to 62mph in just 11.4 seconds and achieves 67.3mpg (combined cycle) and well over 50mpg (55.4mpg) in the official urban cycle test. The new 1,560cc diesel engine features four-valves per cylinder and delivers 90ps at 4,000rpm with 215Nm of torque at just 1,750rpm, driving the front wheels via a five-speed manual transmission.
For drivers in search of even greater fuel economy, the Mazda2 1.4D TS2 achieves 68.9mpg (combined cycle), matches the 1.6D Sport around town (55.4mpg) and reaches 62mph from standstill in 15.5 seconds. This model's CO2 rating is 107g/km which qualifies it for a Band B road fund licence.
The Mazda2 5dr achieved a 5-Star Euro NCAP crash test safety rating and the 3 door model benefits from the same level of safety design, engineering and equipment - its structure redesigned to provide extra resistance to side impacts while accommodating 220mm longer front doors. Mazda2 breaks the industry trend for increasing weight and size with each successive replacement model. It was 100kg lighter than the previous model, thanks to Mazda's 'gram strategy' diet, and the use of lightweight ultra-high tensile steels and new technology - leading to excellent fuel consumption and low CO2 emissions.
By adopting clever packaging solutions for its smallest car, Mazda ensured that the interior offers excellent passenger space for its compact exterior size, plus a competitive boot volume. Every Mazda2 still has 250 litres of cargo volume in the boot which can be expanded to a maximum of 787 litres by folding down the rear seatbacks.
The car that will form the basis of the new baby Ford for the US market will make it's first public appearance in Geneva this week, and we've got the official images from Mazda right here. The little machine has a style that fits right in with the current Mazda design language, including the prominent front fender curves and the lower body character line that sweeps up into the rear fenders. Engines for Europe include a trio of new gas engines of 1.3 and 1.5L displacements ranging from 75hp to 103hp. The two should be arriving on our shores sometime in 2008.
Mazda New Zealand has notched up a new record, posting its highest ever market share for the month of May with 8.0 percent and achieving its strongest sales yet of the CX-7 crossover.
Mazda has sold 2,590 units in New Zealand so far in 2010, 9.4 percent ahead of the same period last year cementing the company's fourth position in the market.
Leading the charge for the month was the CX-7 SUV crossover with a record 65 units sold. Mazda launched a new front wheel drive GSX variant of the popular crossover in April and it has proven to be extremely popular with New Zealand motorists, making up half of the May sales.
The Mazda3 and Mazda6 continue to remain popular choices also with both vehicles appearing in the Vehicle Industry Association's Top 15 selling models for the year so far with fourth and seventh place respectively. The Mazda6 continues to lead the medium four cylinder segment since it was first launched in 2002.
Andrew Clearwater, Managing Director, Mazda New Zealand said the company is pleased with the 2010 results so far and is focused on maintaining momentum through the winter months starting with the launch of the revamped Mazda2 in June.

"The light vehicle segment has become increasingly competitive and although the Mazda2 has always performed well here, the 2010 model features a small number of mid-cycle enhancements which we believe will further strengthen its appeal," said Clearwater.
Dubbed Mazda's ‘Super Little Model', the Mazda2's most striking change will be the new front grille which follows the design cues of Mazda's other second-generation vehicles. Sport models convey high performance with a fin-type grille and a jet-black finish, while Classic models adopt a body-coloured bar in the upper grille. Both variants also feature a newly-designed bumper with updated side intakes, and a wider lower-grille.
Inside, silver finishing has been applied to key contact areas including the parking brake button, inner door handles and air conditioning dials. Sport variants also now feature a premium solid black seat trim complemented by red pin-striping and piped-stitching.
Safety has been improved on the Classic model with Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) becoming standard across both models.
Every new Mazda2 will come standard with mazdacare to ensure the vehicle continues to perform in optimum condition. mazdacare comprises Mazda Genuine Factory Warranty and Mazda On Call Roadside Assistance for a three year, unlimited kilometre period and Genuine Mazda Servicing for three years/100,000 km (whichever occurs first).

Available in nine exterior colours: Black Mica, Highlight Silver Metallic, Icy Blue Metallic, Spirited Green Metallic, Metropolitan Grey Mica, Aurora Blue Metallic, Cool White and firm order only Sparkling Gold Mica and Passion Orange Mica.
